創辦人的話 (The Founder's Message)

Founder, Supervisor and Founding Principal of
Chan Sui Ki (La Salle) Primary School
Brother Herman Michael Fenton
(1913-2009)

In 1972, the newly constructed Homantin Estate included two new primary schools. I requested the Education Department to grant the sponsorship of one school to the La Salle Brothers. The request was granted. However, the School Sponsoring Body was required to cover the cost of all necessary furniture and equipment of the Government-built school premises. The required sum was quite substantial, and more than we could afford. Then Messrs Chan, member of the family of the late Mr. Chan Sui Ki, kindly offered to provide the furniture and equipment for the school as a dedication to the memory of their father. We readily acceded to their request and the school was registered under the name of Chan Sui Ki Primary School. I was then appointed to be the Supervisor and Manager of the School. At the start of the 1973-1974 academic year, the School had a total number of about 2000 pupils in two sessions.

Under the Re-development Programme of Homantin Estate in the twentieth century, a new school premises was allocated to our Sponsoring Body on a competitive basis. Both A.M. and P.M. sessions were merged and converted into a whole-day school. All students moved into the new premises in September 2006. The school was renamed as Chan Sui Ki (La Salle) Primary School. The school now consists of 30 classrooms, a Visual Arts Room, a General Studies Room, 4 Small Group Teaching Rooms, a Student Activity Room, a Language Room, an English Parlour, a Computer Assisted Learning Room, a Music Room, a Library, a Chapel (Multi-Purpose Room), a Medical Room and a Green House along with over 3,000 square meters of spaces for extra-curricular activities and a beautifully landscaped school environment.

When going through this website our readers will observe that the School has enjoyed considerable success, not only academic but in the many interschool contests in which our pupils have taken part. After the special Providence of God from which all good things come, we attribute the success of the school to the exceptional competence, devotion to duty, the zeal, patience and understanding of our teachers and their genuine concern for the wellbeing of our pupils. Relying on continued divine assistance and the dedication of our teachers and parents we look to the future with confidence, and even greater success in the years to come.
